The EPC warmly congratulates Professor Matthias Löhr on receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award of the International Association of Pancreatology (IAP), presented at the joint EPC/IAP meeting in Istanbul in June 2026.
The award recognises his long-standing and significant contributions to pancreatic research, clinical development, and education. Professor Löhr has dedicated his career to pancreatology in its fullest sense — leading UEG guidelines for chronic pancreatitis and IgG4-related diseases, serving as principal investigator in early-phase clinical trials in pancreatic cancer, and holding a professorship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the Karolinska Institutet since 2007.
He served as EPC General Secretary, was a founding member of Pancreatic Cancer Europe, participated in the Pancreas 2000 programme for over two decades, and played a key role in establishing YOUPPIE. Professor Löhr also received the EPC Lifetime Achievement Award in 2023 — making this latest IAP honour a deeply fitting recognition of a remarkable career in service of the pancreatic community.
