Young Pancreas Club (JPC): The Next Generation of Pancreatology in Germany

12th Oct to 31st Dec 2026

The Young Pancreas Club – Supporting the Next Generation

The Young Pancreas Club (JPC) is a platform for early-career researchers and clinicians in Germany with an interest in the pancreas and pancreatic medicine.

Affiliated with the German Pancreas Club (DPC), the JPC connects medical students, young physicians, and early-career researchers at an early stage in their careers, facilitates the exchange of resources, and provides a space for collaborative, structured learning about the pancreas. The earlier we connect, the sooner we can support one another, collaborate, and shape the future of pancreatology!

JPC Academy – Education and Scientific Exchange

The focus of the JPC’s work has been the JPC Academy: a year-long curriculum comprising six online sessions, a workshop, and a closing event held as part of the annual DPC conference. The Academy provides a structured introduction to pancreatology and brings early-career talents together with leading experts in the field. Numerous distinguished national and international speakers have already contributed, including Prof. Michl (Heidelberg University Hospital), Prof. Löhr (Karolinska Institutet), and Prof. Aguirre (Harvard Medical School).

The second edition of the Academy is currently underway. Applications for the next cohort open each spring. With its recently launched How-to series, the JPC is expanding its academic curriculum with a practical format focused on developing hands-on skills

Upcoming JPC Events in 2026

Three events are scheduled for 2026, offering opportunities to engage with current topics in pancreatic research and medicine.

28 October 2026 – Research Update: Pancreatitis

3rd JPC Academy Session | Speaker: Prof. Matthias Löhr

The third session of the JPC Academy focuses on pancreatitis, an inflammatory disease of the pancreas.

The session is open to external participants. However, participation certificates can only be issued to individuals who have previously registered for the JPC Academy.

19 November 2026 – World Pancreatic Cancer Day Special Event

In collaboration with Arbeitskreis der Pankreatektomierten Deutschland (AdP)

To mark World Pancreatic Cancer Day, the JPC is organising a special event together with Arbeitskreis der Pankreatektomierten Deutschland, a German patient organisation for people who have undergone pancreatic surgery.

The event is part of the activities surrounding this international awareness day dedicated to pancreatic cancer.

Participation is open to everyone interested. Advance registration is required.

23 November 2026 – Research Update: PDAC

4th JPC Academy Session | Speakers: Prof. Lena Seifert and Prof. Adrian Seifert

The fourth session of the JPC Academy focuses on pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC), the most common type of pancreatic cancer.

External participants are welcome to attend. Participation certificates are available only to individuals who have previously registered for the JPC Academy.

Further initiatives are planned for the future. Building on its existing activities, the JPC aims to launch its own Summer School and establish a collaboration with the German Association of Pancreatectomized Patients next year.

Anyone interested in pancreatology and keen to become part of the network is warmly invited to get in touch.
