Major Pancreatology Events in Belgrade

From March 19 to 22, two important international events in the field of pancreatology took place in Belgrade: the European Pancreatic Club Pancreas 2000 Course 11 and the Belgrade Pancreatic Summit. The host was the Serbian Pancreatic Club, once again underlining its central role within the regional and European professional community.

Promotion of Young Scientists

As part of the Pancreas 2000 program, talented early-career scientists from across Europe came together, accompanied by experienced mentors. The course provided an excellent platform for professional exchange, further education, and networking – specifically strengthening the next generation of pancreatologists.

High-Level Exchange at the Summit

Over two intensive days, the Belgrade Pancreatic Summit brought together renowned experts from Europe and the region. In their presentations, they provided well-founded insights into current developments in the diagnosis, management, and treatment of pancreatic diseases. The intensive dialogue and the high quality of discussions reflect the growing strength of pancreatology in Southeastern Europe.

Founding of the Southeastern European Pancreatic Association (SEEPA)

A particularly important milestone was achieved during the summit: with the support of the European Pancreatic Club, colleagues from Serbia, Greece, Romania, Bulgaria, Croatia, North Macedonia, and Montenegro officially founded the Southeastern European Pancreatic Association (SEEPA).

This new professional society pursues clear objectives:

  • Strengthening regional collaboration
  • Promoting joint research initiatives
  • Improving patient care in pancreatic diseases

The founding of SEEPA marks an important step for the future development of pancreatology in Southeastern Europe.
