EPC/IAP 2026 — A Packed Opening Day in Istanbul
The joint EPC/IAP 2026 Congress kicks off on Wednesday, 24 June in Istanbul with a rich and varied scientific programme spanning clinical debates, translational research, nursing education, and hands-on workshops.
The main Bosphorus Hall opens with a pre-congress teaching session on the management of chronic pancreatitis and obstructed duct disease — pitting endoscopy-first strategies against early surgery — before moving into a multidisciplinary deep-dive on infected necrotising pancreatitis and the periampullary tumour landscape. The day closes with a highlight session: the Patient's Voice Plenary — "Living with Chronic Pancreatitis & Pancreatic Cancer", organised jointly by the EPC Research & Public Affairs Committee and PCE, bringing patient perspectives and clinical expertise into direct dialogue.
Running in parallel, the Topkapi Hall hosts a full-day translational science programme, from pain biology and sensory mechanisms in pancreatic disease through to AI-driven multimodal approaches for pancreatic cancer risk and prognosis prediction.
A dedicated TPIAT Symposium in the Taksim Hall brings together leading international experts from Europe and the USA to address the state of the art in total pancreatectomy with islet autotransplantation — covering surgical techniques, islet biology, post-operative management, and future directions, including the development of updated EPC-sponsored consensus guidelines.
The PAN-CARE 2026 Pancreatic Nursing Forum runs throughout the day in the Galata Hall, with sessions covering early pancreatitis management, perioperative care, oncology and palliative care, digital innovation, and ERAS implementation — concluding with best abstract presentations.
Rounding out the programme, a full-day Basic Science Workshop and Hands-On Workshops run concurrently, alongside the "From Bench to Bedside" translational laboratory course and a Current Guidelines Group Meeting.
