The Italian Association for the Study of the Pancreas (AISP) will hold its 50th National Congress on 10 and 11 September 2026 at the Centro Congressi Giovanni XXIII in Bergamo, Italy.
The anniversary congress marks 50 years of Italian pancreatology, bringing together clinical expertise, research, innovation and multidisciplinary collaboration. The programme addresses current and future developments in pancreatic medicine, with a particular focus on artificial intelligence, precision medicine, Pancreas Units, equitable access to care and the active involvement of patients and patient organisations.
The scientific programme will bring together specialists from gastroenterology, surgery, oncology, radiology, pathology, genetics, basic research, nutrition, psychology, physiotherapy and nursing. Special attention will also be given to young specialists and emerging researchers through practical courses, interactive sessions, expert interviews and dedicated discussions on career development and future leadership in pancreatology.
Programme highlights include:
- Practical pre-congress courses in pancreatic surgery, endoscopy, oncology, pathology and radiology
- Sessions on postoperative complications following pancreatic surgery
- Live endoscopy and the management of endoscopic complications
- New therapeutic targets, including PARP, TGF-beta, RAS and PRMT5 inhibitors
- Discussions on Pancreas Units, quality of care and equitable access for patients
- Updates on acute pancreatitis and pancreatic cancer
- A dedicated session on artificial intelligence in medicine, including a live “Turing test” in pancreatology
- “AISP meets EPC”, highlighting the collaboration between the two societies
